Just a few kilometers before you reach the lodge, the Kicking Horse River has punched a hole through solid rock. It’s loud, powerful, and incredibly turquoise.

This is a classic “Big Mountain” vista. You get a massive view of the Yoho Valley and the engineering marvel where trains weave in and out of the mountainside.
Located on the Bow Valley Parkway, this is one of the most photographed peaks in Alberta because it looks like a literal stone fortress.

If you want that iconic “Canadian Pacific” shot where the tracks curve along the Bow River, this is it.
Most people think of a limo for the entrance, but for an Emerald Lake destination wedding, the transportation is the experience.
Once you pass the field and head toward the lodge, cell service disappears. This is one of the best parts of an Emerald Lake wedding; everyone is forced to be present. Having a pre-arranged limo means you aren’t trying to coordinate three different cars via GPS that won’t load. Your driver knows the way; you just enjoy the view.
Wedding dresses are beautiful, but they aren’t exactly “car-friendly.” Our stretch limos and luxury vans provide the floor space needed so your gown isn’t crushed or wrinkled by the time you reach the ceremony at Cilantro on the Lake.
Many guests fly into YYC and feel nervous about mountain driving. Offering a shuttle or limo from Calgary to Field isn’t just a luxury; it’s a huge relief for your family. They get to see the Spiral Tunnels and the Natural Bridge without the stress of navigating the Kicking Horse Pass.
Getting your loved ones from the Calgary International Airport (YYC) to the quiet town of Field, BC, is the first big hurdle of an Emerald Lake wedding. While the drive is only about 2.5 hours, it involves navigating mountain passes that can change from sunny to snowy in minutes.
Providing a dedicated shuttle or limo service isn’t just about the “fancy” factor it’s about making sure everyone arrives on time, together, and relaxed.
Most destination wedding guests aren’t used to mountain driving. Between the wildlife on the road and the steep grades of the Trans-Canada Highway, a rental car can be a source of stress.
For guests coming from out of province, the journey starts at the arrivals gate. We coordinate pickups directly from Calgary International, turning a long transit day into a scenic tour.
If you are planning a winter wedding at Emerald Lake, professional transport is almost a requirement. The Kicking Horse Pass is beautiful but requires a vehicle with proper winter tires and a driver who knows how to handle ice. Our fleet is fully equipped for mountain winters, giving your guests a warm, cozy ride while we handle the heavy lifting.
Most guests fly into Calgary International (YYC). The easiest way to move a group is a private shuttle or luxury van. It’s a 2.5-hour drive on the Trans-Canada Highway. By booking a limo or coach, you ensure everyone arrives at the same time, and nobody gets lost when the cell service cuts out near Field.
Parking is actually one of the biggest challenges at Emerald Lake. The main lot is for day visitors and is almost always full. Guests staying at the lodge usually have to park in a remote lot and take a shuttle. If you hire a private limo service, we can drop your wedding party right at the bridge, saving you from hauling dresses and gear on a crowded shuttle bus.
Once you pass the town of Field and head up Emerald Lake Road, cell service completely disappears. You cannot rely on Google Maps or Uber out here. We always recommend pre-booking your return transportation because you won’t be able to call for a ride once you’re at the lake.
Yes, but you need a local pro. The Kicking Horse Pass near the Alberta-BC border can be tricky with snow and ice. Our fleet is equipped with high-grade winter tires, and our drivers are experienced with mountain weather. It’s much safer (and warmer) for your guests to be in a professionally driven vehicle than a rental car that might not have the right tires for BC mountain roads.
The field is just a 10-minute drive down the hill. Many guests stay in guesthouses in the Field if the Lodge is full. We often provide “shuttle loops” throughout the night to move guests safely between the wedding reception at the Lodge and their accommodations in town.
Yes, Emerald Lake is inside Yoho National Park. Every vehicle needs a pass. When you book a commercial service like Alpine Limo, we make sure the vehicle is compliant, so you don’t have to worry about the paperwork at the park gate.
